My OJT Experience: The Work Environment and Lessons I've Learned

Image
Hello! Welcome to my blog. I am Svet Leighann T. Señeres, a student from BSIT 2B. In this blog, I will talk about how my experience was during my OJT. When I first found out that we were required to undergo OJT, I felt excited to experience it. However, it was unfortunate that we could not experience to work onsite due to the pandemic. To be honest, I thought that it would be easier as everything had to be done in a virtual setting, but I was wrong. It was difficult, especially applying for a company and looking for an offer that was aligned to my program. It took me a few months before I was able to find a company that was willing to hire interns and at some point I thought it was almost impossible for me to finish my midyear. Thankfully, I finally got to start my OJT and render my hours. I had to manage my time in both my OJT and class and somehow make it work as I started mine during the start of classes. Although the tasks that were assigned to me were not that aligned to my progra...

XML, JSON, AND AJAX!

Image
    A. XML  WHAT IS XML?      Extensible Markup Language ( XML ) is a markup language that defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The World Wide Web Consortium's  XML  1.0 Specification of 1998 and several other related specifications—all of them free open standards—define  XML . B. JSON WHAT IS JSON?      JSON is an open standard file format and data interchange format that uses human-readable text to store and transmit data objects consisting of attribute-value pairs and arrays. It is a very common data format, with a diverse range of applications, one example being web applications that communicate with a server.  C. AJAX WHAT IS AJAX?      AJAX is a set of web development techniques using many web technologies on the client side to create asynchronous web applications. With AJAX, web applications can send and retrieve data from a server...

Hello! Welcome to my blog. I am Svet Leighann Señeres from BSIT 1B and today's topic is about SQL!                                                  WHAT IS SQL?            ___________________________________________________________________________________           SQL or Standard Query Language is a set based, declarative programming language. It is used to perform tasks on a database. The history of SQL traces back to 1970 when Edgar F. Codd, an IBM researcher defined the relational database model. IBM used his findings as a basis to develop the SQL language. It was originally called as SEQUEL or Structured English Query Language. But after a few revisions, IBM stuck with the name SQL.

DDL, INTERACTIVE DATA MANIPULATION LANGUAGE, AND EMBEDDED DATA MANIPULATION LANGUAGE

Image
  A. DATA DEFINITION LANGUAGE      It is used to provide commands for defining relation schemes, deleting relations, and creating indices, among others.  B. INTERACTIVE DATA MANIPULATION LANGUAGE It can be used to insert, delete, and update tuples in a relation.   C. EMBEDDED DATA MANIPULATION LANGUAGE  The embedded form of the DML is used to incorporate SQL statements into programs created using other programming languages.

MY CLASS EXPERIENCE

Image
In our information management subject, I learned a lot about databases, different diagrams models and how to use Microsoft Access. However, I think I would have understood the topics better if it were in a traditional, face to face classroom setting because it is difficult for me to grasp information at a quick pace. It was quite challenging to learn in this type of class environment since this method of learning is still new to me but given the situation that we are in as of the moment, we are left with no choice but to study online instead for the safety of the students and the instructors. Dilemmas were faced during class as technical difficulties are unavoidable and it is understandable because everyone is still trying to get used to online classes. Just like everyone, I also experienced these as sometimes I had internet connectivity problems and it would be stressful on my part as it would hinder me from entering class and passing requirements on time. I look forward to atta...

DATABASE, EXCEL AND ACCESS

Image
  A. WHAT IS A DATABASE?   A database is a systematic collection of data. Examples of it are  Telephone directory, Log-in / log-out, Record book and etc.  B. WHAT TYPE OF SOFTWARE IS MICROSOFT EXCEL? Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet software created by Microsoft. It also allows users to create their own diagrams, tables to input their data, charts, and databases as well.   C. WHAT TYPE OF SOFTWARE IS MICROSOFT  OFFICE ACCESS?   Microsoft Access  is a database management system (DBMS) from  Microsoft  that combines the relational  Microsoft  Jet Database Engine with a graphical user interface and  software -development tools.   D. THINK OF ATLEAST TWO DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ACCESS AND EXCEL.  While both of these software can be used for database, Access is mainly for easier data storing as it's capacity for storing data is higher than excel. It can store large objects such as images and documents. Other than that, Ac...

FUNCTIONS, ADVANTAGES, DISADVANTAGES OF DBMS

Image
DATA DEFINITION In a DBMS, data is what's being dealt with and data definition is the ability to clearly define what is stored in the tables of a database. As an example, SQL is utilized in order to instruct how to store the data.    DATA MANIPULATION   This means that the existing data within a DBMS can be easily manipulated. Modification is easy as users can insert, delete and update their database. DATA SECURITY AND INTEGRITY Enhanced protection is ensured in a DBMS. It prevents any type of unauthorized access and data alteration. On the other hand, integrity is the validation and it helps maintain the overall accuracy of the system's structure. DATA RECOVERY AND CONCURRENCY   System failures can be unavoidable and DBMS has the ability to retrieve the lost data. Other than that, concurrency means that it can be accessed at the same time as multiple users can view it.  DATA DICTIONARY  A data dictionary primarily consists information regarding the ...
